The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has finalized the processing of loans for first year students in universities and TVETs under the new funding model.

Education CS Ezekiel Machogu called on HELB applicants to ensure that the bank details provided are up to date to ensure that the process is smooth.

The news will now see those who completed their Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) be the first batch to benefit under the new Higher Education Funding Model as introduced by the government.
It will also bring to end tension that had developed between the student leaders and the government as they threatened to hold demonstrations if nothing is done soon.
Many beneficiaries of HELB also complained of the frustration they are undergoing given that their parents cannot foot the school fees. They called on the government to act swiftly.
