Hellen Obiri has done Kenya proud winning the New York Marathon, her send win after the Boston Marathon back in April.
Obiri who finished the marathon in 2hr 27min 23sec was ahead of Gidey who is the 10,000m world record holder who came second in 2hr 27min 29sec. In third place was Kenya’s Sharon Lokedi who finished in 2hr 27min 33sec.

In the men’s marathon, Tamirat Tola of Ethiopia came first in 2:04:58 ahead of Kenya’s Albert Korir came second 2:06:57.
“Tamirat Tola of Ethiopia is the men’s open-division winner, setting a course-record time of 2:04:58.” said TCS New York City Marathon.
“The 2022 world champion becomes the first man in history to break 2:05 in the NYC Marathon.” said World Athletics.
