The High Court has dismissed a petition challenging government plans to privatize four sugar companies in the country.
This follows an application filled by Martin Nyongesa Baraza who noted that the government did not conduct public participation before making the decision.

- President Ruto writes off Nzoia Sugar’s Ksh 50B debt
In his ruling Justice Chacha Mwita noted that there was sufficient public participation conducted by the government before making the decision to lease the four public sugar factories.
The companies in question are Nzoia Sugar Company Limited, Chemelil Sugar Company Limited, Muhoroni Sugar Company Limited and South Nyanza Sugar Company Limited.
The news will now pave the way for the government to lease them with the purpose of improving efficiency, cutting down on debt and restoring the factories lost glories through production.
