High Court suspends prosecution of CoB Margaret Nyakang’o

The High Court has on Thursday suspended the prosecution of prosecution of Controller of Budget Margaret Nyakang’o.

The orders issued by Justice Chacha Mwita was in reference to a petition filed by West Mugirango MP Stephen Mogaka challenging her arrest and subsequent prosecution.

Through his Lawyer Danstan Omari, the Legislator noted that the charges preferred against the Controller of Budget lacked the basis to stand as criminal charges.

According to leaders from Kisii, Margaret Nyakang’o was arrested over her recent remarks calling out the government over inflated payments made to civil servants including her own salary.

On Tuesday she was presented before a Mombasa court where she was charged with Three counts of fraud, operating a Sacco without a license and forgery.

Speaking exclusively to Citizen TV, she revealed how she was ambushed by DCI detectives back in Nairobi and drove her over the night to Mombasa where she was handed over to Mombasa DCI officers.

Her arrest has been called out by ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga who noted that it is an elaborate plan to remover her from office and bring in a person of their choice and reasy to play by their rules.
