The government through the Interior Ministry has declared Monday, 31st March 2025 a public holiday to mark Idd-ul-Fitr.
Confirming the news was Interior CS Kipchumba who through the power confined in him declared Monday a public holiday.
“It is notified for the general information of the public that, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2 (1) of the Public Holidays Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration declares that Monday, the 31st March, 2025, shall be a public holiday to mark Idd-ul-Fitr,” read the notice.
Idd-ul-Fitr is an Islamic event which means ‘breaking the fast’ as it marks the end of a fasting period as stipulated in their calendar.
