Fire broke out at Isiolo Boys High School on Tuesday, meters away from Isiolo Girls High School which saw one of its dormitory consumed by the blaze.
The Tuesday evening incident happened during the evening preps when the students were still in class.
Efforts to use fire extinguishers failed as the deadly inferno overpowered the students who got help from the Isiolo County Government service engine an hour later.

After the inferno, drama ensued around the school when the police stopped people from assisting to put out the fire.
The drama escalated quickly as the people even stoned passing by vehicles before the situation was calmed down by the police.
The incident is among the number of fire incidents recorded in recent days after the horrific Hillside Endarasha Academy incident that has so far claimed the lives of 21 children.
