DCI detectives have launched investigation into an IED explosion that occurred in Mandera leaving one person with injuries.
The incident is reported to have occurred in a hotel blowing its rooftop off. Three people who were inside escaped unhurt as one sustained a fractured leg and injury to the abdomen.

“A multi-agency security team has launched investigation into an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion that occurred earlier today at an eatery in Shafshafey area of Mandera, leaving one person injured.
Responding swiftly, the team established that the explosion had blown off the hotel’s rooftop and caused visible cracks in the walls.
At the time of the incident, four customers were inside the eatery. Three of them escaped unhurt, while one individual sustained a fractured left femur and pellet injuries to the abdomen.
The injured victim was promptly rushed to Mandera Referral Hospital, where he is currently in stable condition and receiving treatment.
Preliminary investigation revealed that two of those who escaped unhurt are the masterminds behind the attack. They have since been apprehended and are currently in custody as investigations continue.
Meanwhile, officers are pursuing a bodaboda rider who brought the suspects to the hotel and fled immediately after the incident.” said DCI
