Coast leaders have endorsed former Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho as their preferred 2027 Presidential candidate.
Speaking during a food distribution drive, the leaders noted that it was time for the region to have one of their own at the ballot and eventually lead the country.

Those present during the exercise were alindi MP Amina Mnyazi, Kilifi Senator Stwart Madzayo, Kwale Senator Boy Juma Boy, Mombasa Senator Mohamed Faki,Kilifi Woman Rep Getrude Mbeyu , Mombasa Woman Rep Zamzam Mohamed MPs Mishi Mboko, Kisauni MP Rashid Benzimba, Magarini MP Harrison Kombe, Mombasa Woman Rep Zamzam Mohamed,Mvita MP Machele Mohamed.
Joho was however advised by a section of leaders to go slow on the issue and seek the collaboration of others as he welcomed the endorsement.
Other leaders also advised him to take the mantle of ODM leadership from former Prime Minister Raila Odinga if he wins the AUC chairmanship job. Also eying the same position is former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya.
Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo called on leaders from the Coast not to allow themselves be divided on political grounds and instead remain united as a region.
“Of all those who want to succeed Raila no one matches Joho, no one, so all of us as brothers lets unite and ensure we support Joho,” said Senator Madzayo
