Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has warned against potential street protest if the government reintroduces a section of the rejected Finance Bill 2024.
Speaking during a church service on Sunday, Kalonzo noted that the common mwananchi is already burdened y the existing taxes and a further addition will only benefit a few individuals in the country.
Kalonzo who had declared himself as the official opposition leader noted that he will not remain silent when the government introduce more taxes.
“We cannot remain silent while Kenyans suffer,” Musyoka declared, emphasizing that the opposition would not stand by as the government imposes additional taxes. “If they attempt to bring back the Finance Bill, we will not keep quiet. This is a revolution,” he said
Also present was DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa who promised to fight and protect Kenyans from over taxation saying that it will only favour a few.
“We are here with Kalonzo, and we are fighting to protect Kenyans, not just the wealthy few.” he said
The leaders also condemned recent proposal by Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei to extend the President’s term limit from five to seven years urging them to abandon the plans.
