Kenya Airways has on Friday confirmed the death of an elderly passenger mid-air after suffering a medical emergency.
Through a statement, KQ noted that the incident occurred inside there KQ 003 flight that had departed John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York abd was heading to Nairobi.

“At 0840 hours Nairobi Time, the crew notified the Kenya Airways Operations Control Centre that the passenger had collapsed.
“In accordance with international aviation medical protocols, the crew, supported by three qualified medical professionals who volunteered on board, immediately initiated emergency procedures, including the use of onboard medical equipment.” read the statement
They continued by confirming that they used the neccessary medical equipment, the passenger sadly passed away at 9:10am. Initially, they had planned to make an emergency landing in Uganda but after the news confirmed, they proceeded with the rest of the journey.
At JKIA, the plane was received by medical personnel, airport security and government authorities. They confirmed to be in communication with the deceased family.
“Kenya Airways is coordinating closely with the family of the deceased, local authorities, and aviation regulators to provide necessary support and determine the cause of death in line with applicable clinical protocols.
The airline extends its deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones affected by this tragic event. Privacy and dignity for all involved remain our utmost priority.” read the statement
