Two officials from the Kilifi County Health department have been arrested with stolen medical equipment and drugs valued at over Ksh 100,000.
The items which are reported to have been stolen from Bamba Public Hospital in Ganze Constituency were seized at a private drug store in the area as confirmed by Kilifi County Executive Committee member for health Peter Mwarogo.

”An individual saw drugs being ferried on to a vehicle and raised an alarm where the incident was later reported to the police. The police managed to get hold of the people involved and that’s how a driver and other staff both who are Health department officials were arrested,” he said
Mwarogo also thanked the police for working swiftly and arresting the two officials after the incident was reported.
He continued by confirming that the drugs were valued at over Ksh 100,000 and that they could have served the residents for over a month.
Also confirming the incident was Kilifi North Sub-county Police Commander Kenneth Maina who thanked the publci for reporting the incident leading to the arrest.
“As the CEC said the drugs were seized from a private store we acted very swiftly and arrested the suspects, for now we can’t give the names until we finish the investigations and on Monday arraign then before the kilifi law courts,” said Maina
The suspects are set to be arraigned at Kilifi Law Courts come Monday.
