It was business unusual in Kirinyaga during the burial of of three children killed in a road accident in Gichugu, Kirinyaga County after politicians were barred from addressing mourners.
The mood at the funeral changed for the worst when Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina was told by the presiding bishop not to politic at the ceremony.

Despite the warning, the Kiirinyaga Woman Rep. insisted that as a leader she must address the people prompting the Bishop to cut short her speech by taking the microphone away.
“Sisi kama viongozi lazima tupewe nafasi ya kuzungumza… na mimi nikizungumza natetea hawa wananchi,” said Njeri Maina
“This is a burial ceremony and not a police rally… thank you,” said Bishop Munene.
Mourners who sided with Njeri Maina demanded for their leaders to be allowed to speak something that was also denied by the Bishop who demanded a moment of grieve to the affected families. Chaoes erupted in return and the Bishop was forced to flee the scene.
“Hapa hatuongei kama SHA inafanya kazi ama haifanyi, kama barabara zimetengenezwa au la, kwa sababu tukifanya hivyo hatutakuwa na heshima kwa hawa watu ambao wamefiwa,” he said
“That is not what we came here to do,” said the Bishop
