Nine people are feared dead and three children are reported to have escaped with injuries in the Friday morning accident along the Kitale-Eldoret road.
Confirming the incident was Uasin Gishu County police commander Benjamin Mwanthi who said that the driver of a lorry lost control before ramming into the matatu.
He continued by saying that at the time of the accident, the matatu had twelve passengers and only three survived who were the children.

“The matatu had 12 passengers and only three children survived,” he said
He continued by calling on drivers to avoid overspeeding and be careful when using the roads.
“We are cautioning our people to be careful on the road and avoid overspeeding”, he said
Several people were trapped inside the matatu as seen through the pictures shared online. At the time of the accident, the matatu was heading to Eldoret and the lorry was heading to Kitale.
