The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has issued a warning to 2024 KCSE candidates against a post encouraging them to use check their results via SMS.

KNEC termed the post misleading as it called on parents and students to check their results by sending their examination details to 20076 where standard rates will be applied.

The post further offered an alternative of using a toll free making it look more genuine thus enticing many to try it out.

They finally informed the candidates that the examination slips will only be accessed at the school one was registered.

In the recent released KCSE examination results, KNEC noted that the results can be accessed through their website and did not offer an SMS option. The use of SMS’s was scraped off back in 2023 so as to ensure effeciency.

“We have engaged engineers to make sure the system works perfectly unlike the other time we witnessed issues with the SMS code,” said then Education CS Ezekiel Machogu

Even after introducing the online method of checking results, delays have been recorded which have been termed as system delay cause by traffic jams from those attempting to access it.
