Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez netted a last gasp goal to give Jurgen Klopp a deserved win against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
The win was Liverpool’s fifth consecutive win in all competition and sixth in seven games they have played so far.
The host came close twice to net an opener when Divock Origi’s long range shot went narrowly past the target and Anthony Elanga had his attempt thwarted by Caoimhín Kelleher who stood firmly at the post.
The Reds slowly improved throughout the clash and Luis Diaz had his chance blocked by Murillo as both sides searched for an opener but ended up goalless at the break.
In the second half, the visitors came close to getting an opener when Andy Robertson’s strike went off the target and Elanga once again had his shot draft inches wide off the goal post.
Nunez who was brought in by Klopp in the second half rewarded his German boss when his header went past the goalkeeper at the end of the extra 8 minutes that had been allocated to give his side the crucial three points.
The win now takes Liverpool four points clear of second placed Manchester City and five clear of Arsenal who will play on Sunday and Monday respectively.
