A man in Australia who took part in clinical trials of COVID-19 vaccine keeps on returning false HIV positive results long after the trial ended.
The man who wants to remain anonymous took part in the trial back in 2020 and were conducted by Nucleus Network for the University of Queensland and drug manufacturer CSL.
The participants were however told that the molecular clamp of the vaccine will create a false HIV positive result even though no HIV is present in them. The results have now caused anguish and uncertainty to the man

‘I was told it should go away after a few months. It’s been years. I was very distressed, it’s still here,’ he said
The trial was halted back in 2020 after several of the 216 participants returned false HIV positive results even though they have not tested positive for the virus before. They were however told that the chances of testing positive for HIV was very low.
Despite the outcome, the Australian man is worried about his future especially when he wants to have kids and whether it will affect them.
‘My concern is if I do have a baby. They say don’t worry, there’s no side effects, but I’m kind of sceptical now. There’s no assurance. With asbestos, for example, people didn’t know until a lot later on,’ he said.
He is also worried that if he travels outside Australia doctors will not understand the results and would recommend medication.
‘In Australia maybe I can explain it away, but what if I drop down in a foreign country and I go to hospital? They test my blood and say, “Hey this guy’s got HIV” – I’m not going to have the letter in my pocket,’ he said.
The university has however remained silent over the matter but had told him that the results will go away but they were not sure when.
