Manchester United beat Manchester City to win the FA Cup

Two goals in the first half helped Manchester United beat Manchester City to win the FA Cup on Saturday in what could be Erik Ten Hag’s last match in charge of the club.

United ensured there was no repeat of the 13 second goal from Manchester City and it was Garnacho who threatened Ortega who blocked his effort. The Portuguese was at it capitalizing on a moment of confusion between Gvardiol and Ortega to tap into an empty net.

In the 39th minute, the Red Devils doubled the lead following a free flowing pass from Rashford to Garnacho who found Bruno Fernandes. Bruno then fed Mainoo who clinically finished it.

In the second half Guardiola introduced Jeremy Doku who ignited the play for City. He quickly found Haaland through a cross but the Norwegian striker hit the crossbar.

United stood string in the face of attack and so was Onana who blocked a Kyle Walker strike and Julian Alvarez sent the ball wide across the face of the post leaving the results as they were.

Doku finally found the back of the net when his strike was too strong for Onana who could do nothing but push it to the back of his own net. At the end of the extra seven minutes, it was Erik Ten side who were declared winners of the FA Cup 2023/24 season.
