Chief Justice Martha Koome has appointed a three Judge bench to hear the impeachment motion leveled against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Led by Justice Erick Ogola together with Justices Antony Mrima and Dr. Frida Mugambi, the bench will hear the petition filled by the Deputy President through his legal team.
Gachagua’s legal team led by Senior Counsel Paul Muite challenged the impeachment of his client at the National Assembly saying that the public participation was shambolic.

They continued by saying that the Parliament failed to following the standing orders which allows it to sustain the motion for seven days before it is sent to Senate for hearing.
They continued by saying that the window under which the motion was presented, the Deputy President was not given adequate time to prepare for his defense which should have taken atleast 12 days.
Even though the impeachment is in motion, President William Ruto has remained silent over the issue as his Deputy has called for peace across the country.
