Former U.S First Lady Michelle Obama is set to miss the inauguration ceremony of Donald Trump as confirmed by her office which did not provide any explanation.
“Former President Barack Obama is confirmed to attend the 60th Inaugural Ceremonies. Former First Lady Michelle Obama will not attend the upcoming inauguration,” read the statement from Barack and Michelle’s
The decision to miss the inauguration ceremony is a break in the old tradition that former Presidents and their wives attend. Former President George W Bush and wife Laura Bush will be in attendance as confirmed by the office and so will Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton.

Last week, Michelle was absent during the memorial service of former President Jimmy Carter and it was Barack who attended and sat next to Trump as they engaged in side chats.
Michelle Obama has openly shared her animosity towards Trump saying that his theotrics have put her family in danger.
The mood was however different in 2017 when Trump won the election and she welcomed them to White House and hosted Melania Trump for a cup of tea. The mood was also wonderful during Trump’s inauguration ceremony.
“There were tears, there was that emotion. But then to sit on that stage and watch the opposite of what we represented on display – there was no diversity, there was no color on that stage, there was no reflection of the broader sense of America,” she said
