Mikel Arteta breaks silence over Barcelona links

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has broken his silence over transfer links to La Liga side Barcelona following the end season departure of Xavi Hernandez.

Addressing the media on Monday, Arteta termed the news fake insisting that he was on a beautiful journey at Arsenal.

“These fake news about me leaving in June make me upset. I’m immersed in a beautiful journey with my players, the staff, our beautiful people… these’s still a lot to do here at Arsenal”. he said. “I always said I’m in the right place”. he continued

Arteta who has only 18 months left in his current contract noted that new contract talks will happen in a naturally way as he has an amazing relationship with the board.

“This is something that will happen naturally when it happens”. he said “I’ve got a strong relationship with the board. We’re not discussing new deal now but it will come in a natural way”. he continued “We’ve always done it that way and we’ve done it really well”. said Arteta

The Spaniard also confirmed that there will be no January transfers happening at the club despite the squad being thin.

“It wasn’t possible to do any January deals. We didn’t have capacity to improve the team in the way that we think we want to improve it. So we decided not to do something yet”. said Arteta
