The Ministry of Defense through a report has confirmed that the cause of helicopter crash that claimed the live of CDF Francis Ogolla and nine others was due to an engine malfunction.
Through a statement issued on Friday, the Ministry noted that the helicopter he was in experienced a power surge as confirmed through findings and was consistent to witness reports that they heard a loud bang.

They continued by revealing that the helicopter, Bell Huey helicopter KAF 1501 experienced a drip in the engine’s Revolutions Per Minute (RPM) which in turn caused a change in the noise before it came down crashing.
The government has already ruled out the weather, crew coordination and pilots’ experience as the cause of the accident insisting that the crew and pilot were mission ready.
They continued by saying that the helicopter had undergone the necessary checks before flight as is the procedure.
“The Huey Helicopter KAF 1501 was assessed to have had a relatively high level of reliability, having conducted several operational and training missions, including VIP flights. Further, the flight was operated by qualified competent crew,” read the report
