The government through the Ministry of Health has confirmed three new cases of Mpox bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 17.
The three new cases confirmed by Health Cabinet Secretary Dr Deborah Barasa are from Mombasa, Nakuru, and Nairobi counties.
In terms of distribution of the 17 total cases is as follows; Nakuru (3), Kajiado (2), Bungoma (2), Taita Taveta (1), Busia (1), Nairobi (2), Mombasa (2), Makueni (1), Kericho (1), Uasin Gishu (1), and Kilifi (1).

A total of 83 contacts have been traced with 78 of them completing the 21 day mandatory follow up. Out of the 83 contacts, three of them have tested positive for the virus with two of them still under observation.
“So far, eighty-three (83) contacts have been identified, with seventy-eight (78) completing the required 2I-day follow-up. Of these contacts, three (3) have tested positive for Mpox, and two (2) remain under active follow-up.
In the last 24 hours, 15.068 travellers have been screened at Points of Entry (POEs), bringing the cumulative number to 1,701,813 screened across 26 POEs.” she said
