Two Tana River leaders Hon. Ali Wario Guyo of Garsen and his Galole counterpart Hon. Hiribae Buya have been rescued ten hours after they were reported missing.
The two leaders who were on a relief food distribution exercise using a private boat went missing hours into the ride.
Confirming their safety was Tana River County Commissioner Hassan Mohammed who confirmed that two MCAs and a child were also on board at the time.

“We have stayed alert the entire night to ensure that everyone who was on that boat. I would thank everyone who was involved in this rescue mission particularly the Red Cross who had sent the first boat and they even got lost four times but luckily they found the missing persons,” he said
Also confirming their safety was ODM party which noted that they have communicated with them on their whereabouts.

The boat carrying the ODM lawmakers and other passengers ferrying relief food to the people affected by floods in Tana River was unable navigate through to Mnazini and got stuck around Wema area.
Rescue teams were sent with the help of Governor E. Godhana and Red Cross with the help of phone technology (GPRS) and other traditional ways like smoke and ringing of Church bell, they were able to be located and sailed safely to Garsen in the wee hours of the night. Everyone is safe. We have spoken with the legislators to confirm their whereabouts.” said ODM
