Mombasa based clinical officer suspended over sexual assault case

Mombasa based clinical officer working at Pandya Memorial Hospital has been suspended by the Clinical Officers Council.

This follows allegations that he sexually assaulted a dialysis patient at the same facility on January 31, 2025 during a routine check-up at the hospital.

“A 31-year-old clinical officer was today charged in a Mombasa court for allegedly raping a dialysis patient in a private hospital.

Prosecuting Counsel Martin Mbote told the court that Dias Juma Wabwile intentionally and unlawfully raped the patient on 31st January 2025 at around 0500 hours at Pandya Hospital in Mombasa.

He was also charged with an alternative charge of an indecent act on the patient contrary to Section II (A) of the Sexual Offences Act, 2007. He pleaded not guilty to charges before Mombasa Chief Magistrate Alex Ithuku and was released on a bond of Ksh.500,000 with one surety of a similar amount.

The case will be mentioned on 17th February 2025.” said ODPP

Through a statement the council noted that it had suspended Dias Juma Wabwile until when investigations are done and the matter is heard and determined.

They continued by confirming that they are working closely with the police to ensure that the necessary actions are taken.

A team of clinical officers have also been deployed by the government agency to conduct their independent investigations in the case.
