A Mombasa-based doctor has been arraigned in court for allegedly raping a dialysis patient at Pandya Memorial hospital on 31st January 2025.
Appearing before Chief Magistrate Alex Ithuku at the Mombasa high court on Monday, the doctor identified as Dias Jumba Wabwire denied that charges and was released of Ksh 500,000 bond.

Condemning the incident was Women’s rights organization FIDA which called for the immediate arrest of others who they accused of obstructing the course of obstructing justice.
“The DCI and ODPP must also investigate and charge the specific staff members who knew about the act and took no action. FIDA will actively monitor this case, protect the survivor and protect her to make sure she gets justice,” said FIDA Lawyer Jane Onyango
The case will again be mentioned on 17th February 2025.
