A Mombasa based lawyer has been charged with stealing Ksh 17 million from a client, a charge that she pleaded not guilty.
Sheila Nkatha is accused of committing the offense between 17th of February 2024 and 23rd of July 2024 at Mvita where she also issued a bad cheque.
“A Mombasa based lawyer has been charged with stealing Ksh. 17 million from her client. Sheila Nkatha appeared before Mombasa Senior Resident Magistrate Rita Orare and pleaded not guilty to stealing and issuance of a bad cheque.

She is accused of committing the offence on diverse dates between the 17th of February 2024 and 23rd of July 2024 at Mvita in Mombasa county within the Republic of Kenya. The accused pleaded not guilty.” said ODPP
Prosecution team led by Yassir Mohamed pleaded with the court to set the bond terms in accordance with the money involved. Bond hearing is set for 22nd of November 2024.
“Prosecution Counsel Yassir Mohamed informed the court that the accused’s bond terms should be commensurate to the money she allegedly stole from her clients.
Court will rule on the 22nd of November 2024, on whether the accused will be released on bond.” said ODPP
