On Tuesday 5th September 2023, a 50-year-old woman has been arraigned before a court in Mombasa after she was arrested in possession of python skin.
Mary Nzala Taura, the accused has been prosecuted by the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) after she was arrested in possession of the skin estimated to be worth Ksh 100,000.
Appearing before Senior Resident Magistrate David Odhiambo, Mary pleaded guilty to the charges committed in Half London area in Mikindani, Changamwe.

“The suspect committed the offence on 4th September, 2023 at around 1140hrs, at Half London area in Mikindani within Changamwe Sub County within Mombasa County,” said ODPP
The skin will be taken in for further analysis with the verdict set to be issued on September 23rd, 2023.
“Prosecution Counsel Barbara Sombo told the court that the exhibit would be forwarded for analysis by an expert in order to establish its identity,” said ODPP
