Morocco to host Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in 2026

Morocco will host the  Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (Wafcon) in 2026 for the third time in a row after they qualified as announced on Thursday.

This coming tournament will see four countries miss out bring to thirty eight the number of countries that will participate in the competition.

Each team will play each other in two rounds before eleven of them qualify and meet the host country Morocco come 2026.

High ranking countries such as Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia, Ghana, Cameroon and Ivory Coast have all bid bye bye to the next round.

The next round of qualifies will take place in February 2025 and the second one in October 2025 with the date yet to be confirmed.

Even though Botswana and DR Congo have qualified for the 2024, they still have a tricky path of qualification in 2026 given their fixture.

Finally the 2024 wafcon finals will be held in Morocco from 5th to 26th July next year.
