Governors from the Coast region have declined an invite by President William Ruto to State House to discuss the current Muguka ban and standoff.
Speaking in a joint meeting, the Governors called for more time to engage other elected leaders and launch a public forum before a conclusive finding is reached.
“As Governors of the Coast Counties, we are in receipt of communication from State House inviting us for a meeting to deliberate on the issue of Muguka with our counterparts from Meru, Tharaka Nithi and Embu.
- Duale challenges DP Gachagua to lead fight against muguka
- Kwale Governor hikes muguka entrance fee from Ksh 10K to Ksh 300K
We took the initiative to consult fellow elected leaders from the Coast given that this issue affects the whole of society.
We have resolved to respectfully request State House to engage the entire leadership of the Coast including Senators, MPs and Assembly Leadership exclusively prior to any other sitting.” Said Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir.
The meeting which was supposed to include leaders from the four Counties will now leave businesspeople in the trade to wait longer before a lasting solution can be reached.
