Murkomen, IG Kanji and Amin fail to appear in court over abduction case

Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen is among top security bosses in the government who failed to appear in court on Wednesday over abduction case.

Others include the IG Douglas kanji and DCI boss Mohammed Amin and they all sent their lawyers to represent them, a move that was rejected by Justice Bahati Mwamuye.

The news follows the release of five youths who had been abducted and released on the same date as confirmed by their families. The five are Billy Mwangi, Peter Muteti, Bernard Kavuli, Gideon Kibet and Rony Kiplang’at.

Representing the families of the abductees is Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka who is lead Senior Counsel in the case.

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) noted that the abduction happened in broad day light and the number plates of the vehicles used were all fake so as to hide their identities.
