The tragic death of 15-year-old Emmanuel Kirima, a recent entrant into Kilungu Boys High School, has cast a somber atmosphere over Kilungu Level Three Hospital. Emmanuel’s passing, just ten days after starting as a Form One student on January 15, has left his family in a state of confusion and anger.
Initially admitted to the hospital for a reported stomach ache, Emmanuel’s demise took an unexpected turn when subsequent examinations revealed visible facial injuries, particularly on his forehead. The school authorities have not disclosed whether these injuries were a result of a fight, a fall, or an act of bullying before his hospitalization.
Citizen TV investigations have brought to light that the 15-year-old was first rushed to a private hospital before being transferred to Kilungu Level Three Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The headteacher of Kilungu Boys High School, Geoffrey Muema, expressed shock at the tragic news, stating that the school administration followed standard procedures when a student falls ill. The hospital’s notification of Emmanuel’s death left them equally astounded.
Emmanuel’s grieving family, seeking clarity on the circumstances surrounding his death, has decided to transfer his body to Chiromo mortuary. A post-mortem is scheduled for Monday to determine the cause of death.
