Nairobi County government has issued new restrictions to hawkers limiting them to backstreets and lanes where they will only be allowed to operate from.
Their operating hours have been restricted from 4pm to 10pm from Monday to Saturday and within the zone from Tom Mboya street to Kirinyaga street.
The notice disallows hawking in the streets and roads of Moi Avenue, Haile Selassie Avenue, Kenneth Matiba Road, Letama Road, Ronald Ngala Street, Mfangano Street, Hakati Road and River Road.
“All walkways within the Central Business District are strictly for pedestrians and not for trading,” read the notice issued.
Those found going against the restrictions will be prosecuted as per the Nairobi City County Government by-laws.
