Nairobi County through the Chief Public Health Officer Muchira Nyakaba has issued a cholera outbreak alert after a recent outbreak was reported in Kibra.
“Following the recent report of cholera cases in Nairobi with the index case being reported in Kibra Sub County on 14th March 2025, you are required to activate all Sub County and Hospital Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) immediately to implement comprehensive cholera control measures.” read a letter from Nairobi County as seen by Standard Media

Among the tasks the hospitals have been requested to do include efficient identification and management of new cases before they spread any further.
The teams tasked as are also instructed to issue reports everyday to the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) so to ensure efficiency in the operation.
Residents have also been called to ensure that they take precautionary measure including proper hygiene including proper hygiene in preparing foods especially to the street vendors.
