A Nakuru court has allowed prosecution team to hold a senior military officer accused of killing a 74-year-old man for five days.
Appearing before the court, Bahati DCI Jackson Okeyo pleaded with the court to grant them 14 days to hold John Kimani Muturi, a senior Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Sergeant to complete their investigations.
The KDF officer is accused of attacking one Moris Gachanja at the Githioro Police Station canteen pub during a drinking spree on 25th December.
According to the DCI, a postmortem on the deceased is yet to be done and witnesses are yet to record statements to assist in the case.
He continued by calling on the need to conduct forensic investigation of the accused phone so as to get the geographical data during the said date.
Okeyo also told the court that Muturi is a flight risk given his position and that the same could help him escape.
Among the witnesses who are said to record their statements is the suspect’s girlfriend as well the patrons who were present during the incident.
