Nelson and Winnie Mandela’s granddaughter Zoleka Mandela has passed away at the age of 43 years after a long battle with breast cancer.
Zoleka herself confirmed her battle back in 2022 and her death has been confirmed by her family on social media.
According to the family statement, Zoleka’s cancer had progressed so fast attacking her lungs before passing away on Monday in the presence of her family and friends.

“Recent scans revealed significant disease progression including fibrosis in the lungs as well as several emboli.’

Two weeks ago, she took on social media to issue an update on her journey where she had undergone a CT scan to reveal the extent of her diagnosis. At the time, it had formed a clot around her lungs.
“‘I had a CT Scan administered a few weeks back, which has shown that I have blood clots as well as Fibrosis in my lung. This explains the chest pains I had been feeling. My Medical Oncologist has recommended blood thinners and Oral Chemo.’ she said
She continued by revealing that the disease had spread not only to her liver and lungs but to the bones and that she was hanging by the threads.
“The CAT scan has revealed cancer both in my liver and lungs. I am yet to receive feedback regarding my bone scan, to establish whether I have cancer beyond my ribs. I am hanging on by a thread. Thanking you all for your outpouring of love, prayer and support. Peace. Passion. Positivity,” she said
