Renowned Nigerian actor and comedian John Okafor popularly known as Mr. Ibu has passed away at the age of 62 years.
Confirming the news was Vanguard Nigeria as fans and followers of the actor/comedian mourned him sharing some of his classic video on social media. His family is yet to issue a statement to confirm the news.
Mr. Ibu has been battling health issues since October 2023 where he had undergone a number of surgeries and recently had his leg amputated. At the time his family confirmed that he was responding well to treatment.

Between 2019 and 2022, John Okafor noted that some people were attempting to end his life through poisoning. In May 2022, he revealed that he had been poisoned for the third tme.
“My illness was perpetrated by people that hate me. They did what they did to me. Later, I was taken to the hospital. The doctors are prophets. So, they went into my system and they told me what was wrong and what they were going to do.
I said ‘Whatever you are going to do, please, do it, let me live because if I die like this the enemies will laugh’. And then the doctors said ‘Okay, there’s no problem’. the actor told Vanguard
