“Members of the public are cautioned against boarding vehicle belonging to Super Metro Limited. The Traffic Department is required to impound vehicles belonging to the Company found operating contrary to the suspension.” they said
Through a press release, NTSA noted that out of the 523 vehicles, 15 of them had expired inspection certificates and eight had expired Road Service Licenses (RSL).
NTSA also noted that 5 vehicles had expired speed limiter certificates, 88 of them were not transmitting speed data and 171 of them had no speed limiter records. 7 of them lacked speed limiter vendor details and 109 vehicles were operating beyond the required speed limit of 80 kph.
It was also noted that the drivers attached to the company did not meet the required qualification thus posing a risk on the road.
It is due to the above that NTSA has ordered Super Metro Limited to present 294 vehicles for inspection at the Likoni Motor Vehicle Inspection Centre and obtain compliance reports.
At the same time, they should present 42 out of the 109 drivers with speed violation cases at the Likoni Driver Testing Centre. NTSA revealed that 64 of their drivers failed a retest back on 10th March 2025 leading to the suspension.
The news will surely be welcomed by most Kenyans especially those on social media who have been calling for government action after a passenger was pushed out of the vehicles leading to his death.
Days later, another incident happened where a person was knocked down by the same vehicles in Nairobi.
