DCI detectives drawn from homicide are probing a shocking incident where a patient was brutally murdered inside a ward at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH).
The patient identified as 39-year-old Gilbert Kinyua was inside ward number 7B when he was brutally murdered by a unknown assailant who went undetected.
The body of the 39-year-old was found on Friday morning lying on the bed with his neck slit open and blood all over the place.

It has since been established that Kinyua was at the hospital since 11th December 2024 receiving treatment of a cerebral disorder before his body was discovered on Friday in a pool of blood.
In the ward he was with another patient with the same condition but he was too week to explain anything to the detectives who were probing the incident.
A nurse who spoke to the detectives revealed that she conducted a routine check at 3am and everything was okay. It was during her second routine check at 6am when she discovered the bizarre incident that has shocked many at the facility.
A blood stained knife believed to have been used to commit the murder was found at the floor near where Gilbert was lying as the detectives try to piece together the scene before and after the incident. The detectives will also retrieve CCTV footage.
Patients in the surrounding wards and the family of the deceased have also been interrogated by the police.
he Kenyatta National Hospital through a statement revealed how saddened they were by the incident and confirmed that they are also conducting an internal investigation on the same.
“We are deeply saddened to confirm an incident involving the tragic death of a patient at Kenyatta National Hospital. Our thoughts and prayers are with the patient’s family during this difficult time. The hospital is working closely with law enforcement authorities and has since launched an internal investigation to determine the facts surrounding the incident,” they said
