Pep Guardiola breaks silence over controversial referee decision

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has broken his silence over a controversial referee decision that denied them a clear goal scoring opportunity.

Speaking after the clash, Guardiola noted that it is hard to understand why the referee waved play on but the referee blew the whistle shortly afterwards.

“It’s hard when you review the image, the referee decides to blow the whistle after he’s already said play on. After the pass, the whistle, I do not understand.” said Guardiola

The Spaniard was speaking after they were held to a 3-3 draw by visitors Tottenham denying them an opportunity to close in on league leaders Arsenal who are now three points clear of them.

The former Barcelona boss also defended Erling Haaland who was pissed off by the decision saying that he was indeed disappointed. “Normal. He is a little bit disappointed” he said

“Even the referee, if he played for City today, would be disappointed with that action!” he continued.

Manchester City are now in third position after Liverpool pulled a late 4-3 win against Fulham on Sunday.
