At least nine people are dead and several building collapsed after a 6.8 magnitude earthquake rocked China’s Tibet region neighbouring Nepal’s capital Kathmandu.
The hardest hit county was Dingri county with local media stations confirming that earthquake went as high as 7.1.
“Dingri county and its surrounding areas experienced very strong tremors, and many buildings near the epicentre have collapsed.

The reporter learned that nine people have been confirmed dead so far,” said CCTV
Another local media station confirmed that local authorities were reaching out to various townships to access the impact of the quake.
Tibet alone houses over 62,000 people and lies on the mountain side of Mount Everest. It was the most pwerful quake with hitting a radius of 200-kilometre, the first one after five years.
“It shook quite strongly here, everyone is awake, but we don’t know about any damages yet,” said a government official
