The White House has on Monday confirmed that President Joe Biden is commuting the sentences of 37 death row inmates.
The declaration also reduces the sentence for all but three of the 40 inmates on federal death row. Speaking after the news, Biden noted that the commutations are “consistent with the moratorium my Administration has imposed on federal executions,” which exempt terrorists and those responsible for mass killings.
The three inmates not included in Biden’s list include  Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, Robert Bowers and Dylann Roof who are responsible for the Boston Marathon bombing, Tree of Life Synagogue antisemitic attack and South Carolina shooting of nine black churchgoers.

“Make no mistake: I condemn these murderers, grieve for the victims of their despicable acts, and ache for all the families who have suffered unimaginable and irreparable loss,” said Biden
“But guided by my conscience and my experience as a public defender, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Vice President, and now President, I am more convinced than ever that we must stop the use of the death penalty at the federal level,” he continued
