President Joe Biden has on Sunday dropped out of the US election and instead endorsed his Vice President Kamala Harris.
Through a statement, Biden noted that the decision is for the best interest of the party and the country as looks forward to fulfilling the reminder of his term.
“It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President. And while it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term,” he said

In a separate message, President Joe Biden noted that he fully supports and endorses Kamala Harris as the party’s nominee this year.
“My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President.
And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.” he said
The news has been welcomed by many who think that it is the right decision given his health concerns and the gravity of the position.
It is also not clear as to whether Democrats will also back Kamala Harris or nominate another candidate. If she will be nominated, then it will be interesting to know who her running mate will be.
