President William Ruto has on Tuesday bid farewell to outgoing US Ambassador to Kenya Whitman in a ceremony held at State House, Nairobi.
Through a statement, the Head of State took note of the 60 years of good relationship between Kenya and the US and the shared value of democracy.
President William Ruto also praised the country’s inclusion as a Major non-NATO ally, a move that highlights the good relationship that both countries enjoy.

“Kenya and the United States have enjoyed robust diplomatic relations for 60 years. These ties have been strengthened by our common and shared values of democracy, the rule of law and freedom.
In the past two years, our diplomatic ties have been elevated to the status of Major non-NATO ally, signifying a high point for the relations between our two countries and peoples.

The news follows recent resignation by Ambassador Meg Whitman following the election of President Donald Trump, Whitman tendered her resignation to President Joe Biden
