President William Ruto has on Thursday directed the Ministry of Transport and that of Energy to cancel the deals it has with Adani group.
Speaking from Parliament during the address of the nation, President William Ruto noted that as a country they cannot continue the ongoing deals following evidence issued by other partners.
“Based on new information provided by our investigative agencies and partner nations – that the procuring agencies within the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum immediately cancel the ongoing procurement process for the JKIA Expansion Public Private Partnership transaction, as well as the recently concluded KETRACO transmission line Public Private Partnership contract, and immediately commence the process of onboarding alternative partners,” he said
The news comes in the wake of a arrest warrant issued against the group chairman Gautam Adani and other executives for allegedly paying a bribe of Ksh 30 billion in order to secure a solar contract.
