President William Ruto mourns former Tanzania Prime Minister Edward Lowassa who passed away on Saturday at the age of 70 years.
The Head of State termed Mr. Lowassa a respected and progressive leader who worked for the greater good of the people of Tanzania.

“Prime Minister Edward Lowassa was a respected and progressive leader who worked for the greater good of the people of Tanzania and the East African Region. We honour the distinguished life that he led, his work and the rich legacy that he leaves behind.
May God grant the family, President Samia Suluhu and the people of The United Republic of Tanzania strength at this moment of grief.” said President Ruto
Mr. Edward Lowassa died while receiving treatment at the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute in Dar es Salaam. Tanzania Vice-President Philip Mpango confirmed his death and revealed that the former Prime Minister had been battling a number of complications including hypertension, lung complications and stomach ulcers.
“The former Prime Minister started receiving treatment at JKCI on January 14th 2022. He was later transferred to a South African hospital for specialized treatment and later return to JKCI,” he said
