President William Ruto has on Monday pardoned fifty-six Kenyans and one foreign nation, all who were serving long sentences.
Through a statement, the Head of State exercised his hand of clemency to the prisoners who are being held in various prisons across the country.

According to the President, conditional release was granted to thirty one petitioners serving life sentences and conditional release and repatriation of one foreign national from the East Africa partner state who was also serving life sentence.
Remission and release was also granted to twenty five individuals once they remit a portion of their custodial sentences.
The Head of State also issued general amnesty to all petty offenders who have six months or less in prison and offenders who have served six months or more but have six months or less to be released.
