President William Ruto has has hit back at those opposed to the national livestock vaccination programme terming them them stupid, mad or possible possessed by evil spirits.
The President was speaking during the 4th Pastoralist Leadership Summit in Wajir County where he promoted the planned vaccination drive that targets 22 million heads of cattle from January next year.
“Anybody opposing vaccination to eliminate FMD and PPR is simply mad and unreasonable and possibly stupid,” he said

Once again the President questioned why Kenyans are opposed to almost everything that the government is introducing saying there must be an evil spirit in the country.
“Honestly, how else can you explain? You don’t know about livestock, shut up, at least for those of us who keep cattle. There is an evil spirit in Kenyans, they oppose everything by spreading lies,” he said
The planned vaccination drive has been questioned by Kenyans who have opposed it strongly saying they will not allow it. They have raised worries that it could lead to serious consequences in future especially on livestock in the country.
Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has also issued a warning saying that the vaccine could alter the genetic structure of the local breeds.
“We reject these experiments in total. Let everyone know that we will resist them to the very end. We ask our fellow Kenyans to join us in opposing the proposed vaccinations, which clearly hurt our animals and endanger our people,” said Kalonzo.
