Robert who is currently being held at Ruaraka Police Station arrived at the residence of Sang accusing him of stealing his chicken before hanging him upside down using a chain before he became unconscious.

“The main suspect in the tragic death of 22-year-old Amos Sang has been apprehended following a nationwide search. Robert Cheruiyot, whose brutal actions were captured in a video that went viral on social media on October 31st is currently in custody at Ruaraka Police Station while his accomplice is detained at Longisa Police Station as detectives intensify investigations.

The distressing sequence of events began when Cheruiyot reportedly arrived at Sang’s residence in Teduet village, located in the Chemaner area of Bomet County, accusing him of stealing his chicken. Sang was forcibly taken by Cheruiyot, and the accusations escalated into what has been described as severe assault.

Reports indicate that Sang was hanged using a chain attached to a pulley, a horrifying scene that left him unconscious. Cheruiyot then allegedly returned the victim to his home in that state.

Tragically, the victim succumbed to the torture. This was confirmed at Longisa Referral Hospital where his body is currently preserved at the facility’s Morgue, awaiting post-mortem examination.” said DCI

Crucial evidence believed to have been used during the incident has been impounded and will be used in court.

“In the wake of this incident, the investigators conducted a thorough search at Cheruiyot’s residence where they recovered crucial evidence, including a pulley and a chain believed to have been used in the assault.

An empty jerrycan believed to have contained diesel, which was reportedly used during the torture was also recovered. At the victims residence, clothing soaked in diesel were also found further implicating the suspects.

The suspects will be arraigned to face appropriate charges.” said DCI
