Prison warden Jackson Kuria Kihara well known on social media as Cop Shakur has been charged with publishing false information.
Shakur who was arrested on January 15th 2025 has been charged with violation of Section 23 of the Computer Misuse and Cyber Crime Act No. 5 of 2018.

This follows his statement on his X platform, allegations that he pleaded not guilty to and was granted a Ksh 100,000 bond with the alternative of Sh50,000 cash bail.
“Jackson Kuria Kihara alias Cop Shakur, a prison officer at Bungoma Main Prison who was arrested on January 15, 2025 for publishing false information in direct violation of Section 23 of the Computer Misuse and Cyber Crime Act No. 5 of 2018 has been charged.
The suspect is accused of knowingly and unlawfully disseminating false information on his X account, under the username Shakur the Cop, on January 11, 2025.
He appeared before Milimani Court No. 5, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges. He was granted a bond of Sh100,000 with the alternative of Sh50,000 cash bail.
The case is scheduled for mention on February 17, 2025.” said DCI
