President William Ruto has nominated Prof. Kithure Kindiki as the next Deputy President to replace impeached DP Rigathi Gachagua.
His nomination was confirmed on Friday morning in Parliament by Speaker Moses Wetangula.

“Pursuant to the provisions of Standing Order 42(1), I wish to report to the House that today morning I have received a message from the President regarding the nomination of Kithure Kindiki to fill the vacancy which has occurred in the Office of the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya following the impeachment of the previous office holder,” he said
Kindiki who currently serves as the Interior Cabinet Secretary will now now need the nod of the National Assembly who have a 60 days window to confirm his nomination
Once completed, President William Ruto will appoint his as his Deputy President, a scenario which is expected to happen in the next few days according to political experts.
